About Giulia Pasquale

I am an R&D engineer in deep learning for robotics, with three-year professional experience in machine vision systems. As evidenced by my research achievements and publication track record, my expertise includes machine and deep learning, computer vision, robotics and parallel computing. Since May 2017 I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), Humanoid Sensing and Perception research line, and at the Laboratory for Computational and Statistical Learning at the University of Genoa. I received the Ph.D. in April 2017 in Bioengineering and Robotics (Humanoid Robotics) from the University of Genoa in collaboration with the IIT. Previously, I received the M.Sc.(with honors) in Bioengineering (Neuroengineering) and the B.Sc.(with honors) in Biomedical Engineering, at the same university. During my Ph.D. I carried out pioneering research on the design and benchmark of deep learning-based methods for visual object recognition on robotic platforms. Currently, my research activity aims at pushing forward visual object perception capabilities of automated systems, targeting object recognition and localization problems.
