About Giulio Masotti

An architect by training, Giulio Masotti practices in Milan where he founded digital fabrication start-up Wood-Skin and interaction design and animation studio Mammafotogramma. He graduated in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano, with exchanges to ETSA in Granada, Spain and McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Giulio holds a patent for the Wood-Skin® fabrication process in Italy, USA and 12 other countries. He has been a presenter at FROG’s Creative Morning in Milan, Politecnico di Milano, Hannover Messe, North Modern in Copenhagen and University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Italian Switzerland and Biennale di Venezia. Through Mammafotogramma, he hosts annual student workshops for European Institute of Design (IED) and the University Institute for Modern Languages (IULM). His work has been exhibited worldwide at venues such as the Venice Biennale, Triennale di Milano, Salone del Mobile, Centre Pompidou, Toronto Film Festival, Cannes, NEOCON. Giulio has been featured in Wired Magazine’s ‘Top 100 Most Promising Entrepreneurs in Italy’ and was selected to be part of Audi’s Innovative Thinking Network since 2015. His work from both Wood-Skin and Mammafotogramma has been featured on top design publications and blogs such as Fast Company, Wired.com, Domus, Dezeen, Abitare, Interni, Azure, Interior Design USA, Gizmag, Behance’s first publication entitled Super Modified and Wallpaper.
