About Glenn Allen

My life has always revolved around the individually challenging and active lifestyle enhancing sports of downhill and cross-country skiing and cycling. It is this love of these sports that has kept me eager to share my experiences with others both as a coach and a retailer. My personal and professional passions center around the areas of adult learning, sports leadership, and specialized high touch customer service. Working many years as a store manager with a demonstrated aptitude for training and a willingness to discover new ways of doing things also allowed me to enter briefly into a corporate training role. My experience pushed me to develop unique and effective approaches to on snow education and equipment selection and modifications as well as an in depth and outcome based approach to the process of fitting the customer's needs to individual circumstances. Specialties: Full range of ski coaching and ski instruction services for groups and one to one personal sessions. Personal shopping service for sports equipment and accessories. Highly experienced in ski boot and hockey skate modifications for the purposes of performance, injury prevention and comfort. In depth knowledge of sales techniques and training methods for retail accumulated both through on the job experience, many years of training through the Forzani Retail College system and through application of cross over techniques from the world of coaching, coach training and sports education. I am particularly fortunate to be working as the Shop By Appointment adviser for our Polo Park location which is one of only a few stores in Canada to be staffed and equipped as an Elite Boot Fitting Centre. This unique service gives us the capability to dramatically modify and improve both the fit and performance of alpine ski boots and skates using an unparalleled set of machines and tools for the purpose. Though in June 2019 I officially retired from full time and managerial roles with the store I have remained as a part-time employee in order to continue to serve the many customers and friends I have made over the years and to help the younger staff at the store benefit from my experiences. If anything I will be on snow more than before in the winter and hope to help pass my love of the sport and its possibilities on to others.
