About Grant MacLeod

Now calling Perth home, my young family & I have worked and lived in the Pilbara for many years. There I started my career on the railway tenuously, at an Austrak sleeper factory in 2010, before joining a BHP Rail Gang two years later. Since then I've progressed to the levels of Certificate of Rail Infrastructure, Leading Hand and Safe-Working Officer at various Pilbara locations, and in addition received some of the most enjoyable and intensive training one could hope for. My duties have included those of a Coordinator & Leader of workgroups, an Inspector, scoping works and writing reports and orders. As well as tasked often as a Protection Officer, Safe-Worker and Call-out Responder as required. Aside from larger responsibilities, I've found myself just as comfortable behind an applicator, a grinder or tag line. I enjoy a high level of fitness which compliments my enjoyment of a heavy-work environment Being an active member in my workplace and camp community I’ve twice been elected Safety Representative and have enjoyed volunteering for the camps Emergency Response Team, where my First Aid and Safety skills have upgraded considerably. I’m a gymnasium regular and enjoy involvement in camp health & wellness, and I get a great deal of reward from this. I’ve been very fortunate to have worked with leaders that offered to extend my skillset and help me develop my talents. Through challenging roles, I was allowed to evolve and build a reputation of being capable and adaptable. In my time on the railway I’ve often found myself thriving in dynamic and demanding environments where planning and accuracy are crucial,
