About Steven Johnson

I have an excellent understanding of the rail system and the interrelation between signalling, track and rolling stock. This is complemented by my extensive experience of defining project scopes and planning railway renewal and enhancement projects. As a leader, I enjoy being given the autonomy to manage resource requirements, develop teams and to implement innovative ideas. In my roles I have enjoyed very constructive relationships with clients and partners, often exceeding customer expectations in regard to service, communication and delivery. This has led to several instances of being asked to be involved in their project development process, early project planning and helping them establish project strategies. As a business unit leader, safety, quality and cost were key performance measures of my own performance and ones that I used to promote improvement in my own teams. I promote a culture of identifying opportunities to improve processes, improve ways of working and seek continuous improvement, not ‘big bang’ solutions. I focus on understanding the needs of internal and external customers in order to deliver the results they require. Specialties: Challenging people to consider how things can be improved for the satisfaction of the client.
