About Grant Thompson

I started my career as a stand-alone field engineer in the Well Services team at Schlumberger, working mostly from dedicated stimulation vessels in offshore Qatar, including short campaigns in offshore UAE, India and Iran. My career progressed further with my new assignment in the UAE as a technical stimulation engineer for all Northern Emirates clients. This involved providing day to day technical and operational support, as well as working on special projects that have continued to challenge and grow my knowledge and skills in the oil and gas industry. I have the opportunity to work closely with many different departments of my clients offices, including Development, Drilling, Completions, and Intervention departments, often acting as a link between them. This has given me a much broader understanding of the industry I am involved with. I am in a Project Coordinator position in our Integrated Fracturing Services division. The project I have been working on is aimed at the provision of integrated Fracturing and Well Testing services (along with associated services from perforating, logging and workover) in unconventional wells, for our onshore client in Abu Dhabi (ADNOC). This position requires the management on multiple services lines from Schlumberger, along with the management of all third party service companies. I have developed my skills in the writing of operational procedures for rigless intervention operations, along with being exposed to the operations of many service lines that I have not previously been involved with, including Wellheads, Wireline logging and perforations, Completions and Well Testing. Specialties: Enhanced production (stimulation) of hydrocarbon producing wells and water injector wells through the techniques of matrix acidising, hydraulic fracturing (acid and proppant fracturing), wellbore cleanup, as well as water control.
