Greg Blount represents corporate, industrial and trade association clients regarding environmental law and policy matters, including related civil litigation and enforcement issues in state and federal courts across the U.S. Clients turn to Greg to handle a range of issues related to hazardous waste compliance and policy at federal and state levels, including extensive work on emerging contaminants such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). His more than forty years of experience includes work for retail chains, including pharmacies, on hazardous waste compliance and regulatory reform. Corporate, industrial and trade association clients include Brasfield & Gorrie, CVS Health, Delhaize, Discount Tire, Georgia Association of Manufacturers, Georgia Poultry Federation, Grocery Outlet, Inc, Johnson & Johnson, Leslie’s Pool Supplies, Mount Vernon Mills, Pilgrim’s Pride and JBS USA, Albertsons and Safeway Inc, Rollins, Inc, TenCate Inc, Tractor Supply Co, U.S. Poultry and Egg Association, and Wayne-Sanderson Farms LLC. He has served as environmental counsel for clients during extensive negotiations in Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, New Jersey, and Washington D.C.Greg’s representations have involved all major environmental statutes in the United States. His early experience as both a state assistant attorney general and general counsel to Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources informs his understanding of the objectives of both the regulator and the regulated. It has also helped Greg develop consensus for environmental statutes, administrative rules, and enforcement related to hazardous waste and water quality. His litigation experience includes defending agricultural waste management practices, such as land application systems.Local governments have turned to Greg for counsel on water supply issues, including multidistrict litigation known as the Tri-State Water Wars, a highly complex, decades-long battle between Georgia, Alabama, and Florida over water allocation. Greg is a frequent speaker on hazardous waste and other environmental issues. He has spoken at numerous CLEs, seminars and other programs both nationally (such as those produced by the Retail Industry Leaders Association, NAEM, Ca CUPA conferences and the Ca Bar’s Yosemite Environmental Conference ) and in Georgia (Georgia Environmental Conference, Georgia Association of Manufacturers, and Georgia State University College of Law).
