About Hannah Chapple

I am an ACCA qualified accountant currently working as a Senior Accountant for Children’s Services within Dorset Council. I currently support the Education and learning functions of Children’s services and managing the finances of the Dedicated Schools Grant and Schools of Dorset. After successfully completing my A-Levels in 2009, I enrolled on a fast-track AAT course at Bournemouth and Poole College and completed my Level 2, Level 3 and Diploma Level 4 in just two years. Whilst studying for AAT I was fortunate to secure employment in a small firm of Accountants in Poole where I gained experience in all aspects of accountancy. I then went on to study with ACCA using the knowledge and experience of corporate and personal tax, accounts, payroll, VAT, audit and company secretarial that I picked up through my employment. After passing each ACCA exam first time, I successfully fulfilled the exam requirements of the ACCA qualification in February 2015 and after a short sabbatical to travel around the world, gained full membership in March 2016. Working in private practice, I have been lucky enough to gain experience in a number of areas with the focus of my daily activities on accounts and payroll preparation. I have good computer knowledge having used software such as Digita, Sage Accounts, Sage Payroll, QuickBooks online, Iris Payroll, Staffology payroll and VT as well as being fully competent in most Microsoft Office programs too. In January 2017 I made the move into public sector finance and began working as an accountant for local government. This role involves budget monitoring, budget setting, monthly forecasting and working with many budget holders across the county to produce monthly figures. After promotion in January 2020, I now manage a team of accountants and finance officers covering all aspects of Education finance including DSG, Schools, early years, SEND and all education functions as well as reporting to Schools Forum. Before becoming part of the Children’s services team, I also have experience working in the Adults, Place and Corporate finance teams, gaining good knowledge across all Dorset Council finance functions.
