Background

About Harrison Perkins

Harrison Perkins (PhD, Queen's University Belfast) is a pastor at Oakland Hills Community Church, a visiting lecturer in systematic theology at Edinburgh Theological Seminary, and online faculty in church history at Westminster Theological Seminary. Harrison is the author of "Catholicity and the Covenant of Works: James Ussher and the Reformed Tradition"(Oxford Studies in Historical Theology; Oxford University Press, 2020), as well as "James Ussher's 'Summary of Theology' and other Manuscripts: Translations and Commentary"(Historic Texts in Reformed Theology; Westminster Seminary Press, forthcoming), several articles in academic journals or popular theological magazines, and is currently preparing a monograph in systematic theology on Reformed covenant theology. As a devoted churchman and academic, Harrison is fully committed both to serving the church directly and to producing scholarship at technical and accessible levels. His passion is to minister the gospel personally and use my academic training to help equip others for fruitful and informed service in Christ’s church. He has had the privilege to serve churches in a diverse set of contexts, including a congregation just north of the Mexican border, a congregation in rural Northern Ireland, preaching in Hungary and Romania, and presently serving a congregation in the heart of London. Alongside his ecclesiastical service, he seeks to use my academic training for the church’s benefit by teaching doctrine courses for a pre-seminary training module and at the seminary level. He is a Fellow in the Royal Historical Society, a regular contributor at Modern Reformation, and a regular contributor at The Heidelblog.
