About Henriikka Mustajoki

I strongly believe in co-creative processes and creating value by building and supporting communities. As a secretary general, I have had an opportunity to initiate a new effective way to develop a national research policy, which engages the research community and creates ownership of the policy process. My resent book "Tästä pitäisi puhua"(Gaudeamus) brings forward a new term "shadow talk (varjopuhe)", which explores how important topics are often discussed and managed in the shadows, not out in the open, where we could find solutions, be seen and heard, and create stronger communities. My passion is to develop coherence, belonging and ability to solve problems together. I bring to my leadership role strong knowledge and experience in creating value-driven and inclusive communities. My academic work in ethical decision-making gives a solid foundation to understanding how problems evolve into solutions and how dealing with deep questions can build a community and increase the well-being of its members. My experience as a teacher, mentor and nurse equip me to encourage, support and enhance communities in their co-creative processes. My nursing qualifications and experience allow me also to look at the co-creating and learning processes as part of holistic health for everyone involved. Belonging is one of the foundation stones for both physical health and well-being. Work impacts all aspects of our lives and our life experiences influence our ability to work and contribute at work. When work can provide a community and experiences of trust and shared success, we are on the right path to creating a better society.
