About Holly Stevens

I currently work as a Therapeutic Education Worker with the Bristol Therapeutic Support Service. The goal of my work is to collaborate with schools, carers, other professionals, and the young people themselves, to create stability in education for young people in care. Previously, I was SEMH Head of Area at Bristol Cathedral Choir School. Within this role I lead on the needs, provisions and academic success of young people with SEMH needs, particularly those who have experienced complex trauma. My direct work with young people specialises in trauma informed practice and creative based therapeutic interventions. I also run arts charity The Creative Spaces, which connects young people of all ages and backgrounds to artists and other creative practitioners. We organise workshops, student exhibitions and teacher CPD workshops. As part of The Creative Spaces, I create classroom and gallery resources in collaboration with schools and arts organisations. Previously, I have also lead work as a Special Educational Needs Mentor and Tutor. I worked with young people across a range of needs, with particular expertise in Autistic Spectrum Condition, Dyslexia, and Sensory Processing Disorder. Primarily this mentoring used creative play and learning around Phonics, reading, Literacy, Numeracy, Inference and Humanities, depending on the needs of the young person.
