About Ian Churms

My experience has been pre-dominantly in ICT Infrastructure, security and ICT leadership for many years. My teams find solutions, provide innovation and focus on the customer. Much of my experience has been gained in local government which is a challenging space in which to deliver ICT due to it's great diversity and political control. I have also worked for many years in the private commercial sector and look to provide ICT with a commercial mind-set to ensure value for money to the business. Technical achievement and experience. Proposed, designed and implemented Shropshire Councils first foray into virtualisation. I have since moved the council through a second and now a third iteration of the Shropshire server cloud. Virtualisation of applications has been a focus of mine through Metaframe XP to the present day. I am leading my team through a new implementaion of Citrix and a wholesale migration of applications to this platform to support our ongoing move towards mobile working and desktop virtualisation. I am continuing to enhance my managerial skills with further opportunities within Shropshire Council. My short and medium term goals are to lead my team through a difficult time at the council. I aim to ensure we continue to over achieve as a unit and to deliver to the council the many changes and improvements to infrastructure that will transform the way it works. Personally I wish to expand my managerial experience and continue to develop my technical skills in new ICT areas.
