About Ian Eyre

I’ve been disassembling and reassembling computers since my childhood, and that provided the foundation for learning programming and general IT tasks. What I lack in credentials, I make up for with real world business experience, perseverance, a love of learning and strong troubleshooting skills. My varied work experience makes me a more accessible software engineer, and my systems administration knowledge includes websites, AD, group policy, Azure, network security, compliance analysis and configuration, and Windows Server OS. I bring strong communication and time-management skills to any role I fill, as well as a desire to succeed. I have 5+ years of experience writing applications in Visual Basic and Python, usually creating SQL relational databases and stored procedures as part of the stack. I am skilled in deriving useful information from numerous data sources in order to solve problems in a manufacturing environment, as well as ETL programming to transform widely varied data formats into a standardized output that can be used by other developers. I am comfortable building within a framework, though I have also written stand-alone applications to do things like transform flat data formats, track machine operator productivity and parse barcodes for quality control. I absorb new knowledge very quickly, and have no doubt I can obtain a whole list of technical certifications or learn new programming languages or IDEs as needed. I also am a competent tutor, able to explain difficult concepts clearly and organize information to facilitate learning for myself and others.
