Background

About Ilona Pap

As a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Sociological Institute of the University of Zurich, I bring a robust academic background in Sociology and Political Science, having completed my studies at both the University of Bern and the University of Zurich. My professional journey began with positions as a Student Assistant at the sociological institutes of both universities, alongside my work at ETH Zurich, the University of Luzern and the Jacobs Center for Productive Youth Development. I hold a PhD from the University of Zurich, where my research focused on areas such as migration and integration sociology, transnationalization processes, and the use of experimental methods in social research. These interdisciplinary interests have guided my scholarly contributions and shaped my approach to innovative, data-driven research. More recently, my work has increasingly explored gender differences in academic careers and research practices. In addition to my research expertise, I have extensive experience in academia, particularly in teaching. Over the years, I have delivered lectures, including in statistics, and developed a passion for mentoring and guiding students through complex sociological concepts.
