About Iman Soliman

Iman SOLIMAN is a Programme Officer at the Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation (CMI), focusing on peacebuilding and conflict resolution efforts within the Middle East and North Africa region, with a particular emphasis on Libya. She has extensive experience in programme management, policy development, and human rights, with a proven track record in addressing issues such as criminal justice, prison reform, gender violence, and organized crime. From 2015 to 2022, Iman worked at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa, where she led regional initiatives to combat illicit trafficking, strengthen border control, and dismantle criminal networks across the MENA region. She also managed juvenile justice and prison reform projects, focusing on rehabilitation and reintegration of former prisoners and the development of tailored case management systems and procedural manuals on classification and inspection policies to improve detention standards. Prior to her work at UNODC, Iman contributed to the NGO sector, working on human rights for marginalized groups, including at-risk youth and women. She also contributed to policy development efforts aimed at protecting, empowering, and reintegrating women and children in conflict with the law. Iman has a proven track record in building partnerships and supporting resource mobilization efforts, including drafting successful proposals to secure funding for critical projects. Her experience extends to gender-focused initiatives, where she has addressed the needs of women and girls in conflict with the law and contributed to policy development for their protection, empowerment, and reintegration. Iman holds a joint LLM in International Law of Global Security, Peace, and Development from the University of Glasgow, a Master’s in International Security from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and a Specialized Master’s in Public International Law from Université libre de Bruxelles. She also has a Master’s in Childhood Studies and Children's Rights from Freie Universität Berlin, a BSc in Political Science and Public Administration, and a Diploma in Public Policy and Child Rights from Cairo University.
