About India Pinker

Dr India Pinker is a postdoctoral researcher investigating healthcare communication and its effect on treatment decision-making for older adults with cancer. She currently works in the Ageing, Cancer and Disparities Research Unit at the Luxembourg Institute of Health. She is also a Chartered Psychologist under the British Psychological Society. She is currently Chair of the Early Career EACH (International Association for Communication in Healthcare) and co-chair of the research subcommittee (rEACH). Education & Research: Dr Pinker earned her PhD in Medicine from the University of St Andrews, focusing on the theoretical underpinnings and integration of clinical empathy in medical education to enhance interprofessional collaboration and patient-centred care. She holds a Masters in Health Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with First Class Honours, as well as patient-facing experience. Research Focus- Qualitative methodology - Healthcare communication - Medical education - Holistic patient-centred care Background and International Experience: Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, she completed her primary and secondary education there before moving to the United Kingdom for her higher education. She has expanded her international experience by teaching English in China and cultivating a strong international network through her involvement with various global organisations. Additional Interests: Dr Pinker has a keen interest in science communication, complementing her research in health communication.
