About Irma van Buuren

What matters isn’t failure. It’s what happens quietly before choice narrows. In complex aviation and supply chain systems, performance can appear stable long after the system itself is under strain and control is quietly eroding. KPIs hold. Reports close. Operations adapt. Yet routine decisions become strategically sensitive long before anything appears wrong. Margins erode, oversight intensifies, and risk quietly accumulates. My work focuses on the critical upstream space, where authority narrows, effort concentrates, and strategic options are quietly consumed. Across board, executive, and advisory roles, I help organizations anticipate hidden stress, preserve decision space, and restore system-level resilience before constraints become critical.I advise on aviation operations, ground handling networks, and complex operational systems, bridging the gap between operational realities and strategic governance. By identifying early signals of stress, aligning multi-stakeholder workflows, and embedding resilience into processes and policy, I support leadership and boards in safeguarding performance, safety, and reliability while preserving flexibility and strategic choice.I am increasingly focused on independent advisory and governance roles where complex operational systems intersect with strategy, policy, and industry collaboration.
