About Jack Lair

I'm a software developer generalist with around four years of professional experience. At Microsoft, I worked as a pipeline and tools engineer, mostly developing tools and improving the work pipelines for other engineers (with a sprinkling of test infrastructure and back-end database work). I gained experience working with and across multiple teams and in several different programming languages to improve the workflow for shipping feature code for the OneDrive desktop sync client. After Microsoft, I took some time off to follow my passion for making games. I taught myself the 3D artist pipeline and started participating in game jams, and even took some contract work as a gameplay programmer/game designer for Digital Dream Labs, a company that makes educational video games. I've spent my pandemic time writing lighting and shader code, learning and practicing linear algebra and 3D mathematics, and getting pretty good at C++.
