We are constantly told that children belong in school—but does every child feel like they belong? 🤷‍ With exclusions on the rise, a lack of SEND provision, and a global mental health crisis, the need for inclusion, connection, and relationships is more urgent than ever! After years of working in schools and developing provision, I founded Codevelo to offer practical support, appropriate challenge, and effective training. We believe in long-term partnerships with schools and providers, instead of single-point training. We’re in this together. My focus is simple: to create schools where every child belongs. Whether I'm supporting staff development or helping governance systems implement positive, deliberate change, I'm working to make inclusion, kindness, and emotional safety in school a non-negotiable. This is the foundation for learning, individual success, and the development of young people who are equipped to connect, reflect, and thrive. So, what can we do? We empower and train staff to better understand and support the children they work with. We develop school cultures rooted in nurture, connection, and emotional safety. We ensure governance teams are prepared to reflect, lead change, and drive positive experiences. We shape understanding to support distressed behavior effectively. We prioritise wellbeing and insist on a culture of curiosity. I’ve never been able to just accept that “this is how we’ve always done it”. My own traumatic school experiences have shaped my commitment to supporting schools in a way that builds safe, secure relationships and drives child-led successes. We're about reshaping education to offer new life opportunities and ensure that every child is supported and valued. It’s time to ensure that no school excludes, stifles individuality, or traumatises. Research shows that children who feel they belong are more likely to engage in learning, develop positive social skills, and support their emotions and mental health more positively. Kindness, connection, and curiosity are at the heart of everything we do. Through training programs, workshops, talks, and partnership models, we help schools commit to inclusion, nurture, and wellbeing. Together, we will build educational experiences that help children attend, engage, and thrive—enhancing both their emotional wellbeing, academic development and lifelong success.
