About Jack Poole

Technical Designer, Scripter, Mentor, Dungeon Master, and Friendly Face. After graduating from Staffordshire University with a first-class degree in Games Programming and Design, I have worked as a technical designer for several years in the gaming industry, helping to implement features and ensuring technical debt is minimised with critical planning alongside utilising clear and consistent communication with other teams. I am passionate about mentoring new staff and making sure I am always a source of confidence and positivity for my peers during challenging times. My specific technical skillset involves a number of programming languages, such as C#, Lua, C++, alongside expertise with visual scripting. I am adept with both UE5 and Unity, with experience in each engine's many features. Whilst I have experience developing a number of features from mission design to social systems, my primary skillset is in developing tools for players to create their own gamemodes and worlds, alongside AI implementation. Outside of my career, I host several TTRPG groups, spinning worlds and adventurers with unique mechanics for my players to tackle. I also attend conventions alongside my fiancée, supporting her in running an independent art business focused on adorable accessories. As my partner suffers from a number of mental health challenges, I am keenly aware of the importance of and advocate for mental health support within the workplace, and making sure everyone I interact with leaves each interaction with a smile on their face.
