About Jack Tyler

A graduate with secondary teaching experience. First class degree in Sociology, Masters in Social Research Methods, PGCE in Secondary Religious Education graded Distinction, and Level 4 Certificate in Management and Financial Accounting. My work and experiences have broadly included: management and financial accounting; treasury and capital; related parties and conflicts of interest; audit and assurance; project management; and benchmarking. In just under two years, I developed a myriad of interests including: devising learning resources; professional scrutiny and impartiality; advanced spreadsheet and presentation skills; cross-departmental work; and networking. Academically, I developed interests and expertise in innovative assessments techniques, and knowledge and teaching within the following areas- Eastern and cyclical religions including Hinduism and Buddhism, using religious artefacts, linear religions including Judaism and Islam- Sociology of religion: secularisation, religion vs science, feminism, spiritual shopping, new religious movements, assimilation, expressions of religion- Religion and influence in popular culture: literature, music, fashion, witchcraft, vampires, wizards, resurrection and zombies, karma, avatars- Life, death and beyond: nature and value of human life, death and the afterlife, eschatological and apocalyptic beliefs- Ethics: Masters degree module in this area, situation ethics, virtue ethics, sexuality, war, science and technology, free will and determinism.
