About Jackson Dorty
My name is Jackson Dorty and I am a senior at the University of Pittsburgh pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Social work with a minor in Studio Arts. After graduation, I plan on continuing my education in social work and getting my Master's degree with a focus in direct practice work. I also hope to continue to advance my painting skills and to be able to show my work in the near future. I'm currently an intern at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh where I assist in day to day tasks which includes running programs, event planning, and intake interviews. I also help to input statistics from surveys and interviews into their database. Through this experience, I have gained knowledge of social work at a micro, mezzo, and macro level. I have been able to see how nonprofits function, how they partner with other agencies in the Pittsburgh area, and directly help clients one on one. These skills will follow me as I continue my education and enter the social work professional field following my education.
