About Jacob Short
I am a future-oriented person. I am continuously excited and intrigued by advances in medical technology, astrobiology and biochemistry. The current trends in the commercialization of individualized healthcare are very interesting. Not just for market potential but the potential for maximizing medical literacy among the populace. Coming from a rural part of Maine I am severely food-conscious and environmentalist. I am a graduate of the University of Maine's Bioengineering program.(Bachelor's of Science, first graduating class) I have received my Master's in Bioengineering from Wilkes University. I worked as a lab manager in a Drosophila neuroscience lab at the National Institutes of Health, Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke. Here I found my passion for neuroengineering. I am now pursuing a PhD in Neuroscience through the NIH-Karolinska Institutet Graduate Partnership. I am studying the hypothalamic role in reproductive chronic disorders such as PCOS.
