About Jacquelyn Read

I have served my country for 20 years, 14 of which have been in Navy Special Operations as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician directly attached to Navy SEAL Teams deploying to various combat areas. As a pioneer to integration with the Special Forces communities, I am passionate about providing mentorship and vision in order to foster the successful organization-wide culture change to cultivate diversity and inclusion. I started my Naval career as a Cryptologic Technician Interpreter (Chinese Linguist), where I was responsible for the translation, interpretation, analysis and reporting of highly technical information of strategic and tactical importance to fleet commanders and national intelligence agencies. After 6 years as a Linguist, I felt inspired to use my strengths and passions to serve my Country in a slightly different way, and made the decision to challenge my mind, body and spirit by screening for EOD in order to work and deploy with the Special Operations Forces Elite Teams. I love all things ocean, and am an avid surfer and kite-boarder. I live an active lifestyle, and am at my best when I balance my work life with endorphin producing activities. I believe in and want to inspire self-discovery through travel and adventure, so that we may gain clarity and find true happiness.
