Throughout two decades of service as President of Americans for Medical Progress and a spokesperson for the research community, Jacquie Calnan’s focus was on the importance of animal-based research to current and future medical advances. Now retired but consulting in a variety of subject areas, she also serves as an Honorary Director of AMP. A nationally recognized authority on the animal rights extremism that threatens medical progress, Jacquie also founded AMP News Service, an email newsletter that has become a must-read for those in the research community and other stakeholders. Frequently interviewed for TV and radio, she has published articles and op-eds supporting biomedical research in dozens of newspapers across the country, including The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times and The Boston Globe. Prior to her service with Americans for Medical Progress, she enjoyed a 25 year career in television news that included positions in production and management at local television stations in Boston and New York City, as well as at CBS, ABC, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Germany's RTL. A Massachusetts native, Jacquie received a B.A. in journalism from Thomas A. Edison State University of New Jersey, and a Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
