Background
About Jaime MacFarlane
After 8 years living and working abroad (New York, London, Amsterdam and finally Oslo) I am back in Aotearoa and looking for exciting opportunities I see within our culture as we shift towards being critically aware of our impact on the ecosystems around us, and our duty to understand our role in those systems. Whether this is within urban spaces, the construction industry, food systems, or regenerative farming; our practices must move towards carbon neutrality, with closed-loop resource solutions. Constantly driven to re-invent and challenge the status quo, I am fascinated in the complexity of climate crisis and the opportunities for solutions that are there for us if only we step up to the challenge; and addressing many of societies problems as we do this. Heralding from Whakatū (Nelson), Aotearoa; Jaime Macfarlane has been involved with landscape architecture both here and abroad since completing her Masters in Landscape Architecture in 2012 at VUW. During her earlier years in Aotearoa Jaime was heavily involved in the academic side of landscape architecture; tutoring and lecturing several different papers and year levels at Victoria University of Wellington. Teaching, learning and sharing of knowledge is a big part of Jaime's professional career; with teaching being a passion which she plans to return to on-and-off as her professional career continues to expand and grow. Jaime Macfarlane completed her Masters of Landscape Architecture in 2012. Her thesis, titled "The Ecological Touchstones of Our Identity" deals with the loss of connection between New Zealand's society and our disappearing landscapes. The thesis creates a theoretical and design based approach to rejuvenate the connections between regenerating forest (Lake Waiwiri - Horowhenua) and national urban environments (Te Papa Tongarewa - Te Whanganui-a-tara) in the form of a national seed bank; a subject matter which is still close to her heart.
