About James Bylund

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (#34128), Educational Psychologist (LEP #3220), and Diplomate of the American Board of School Neuropsychology (ABSNP) specializing in the assessment and intervention of children's learning and behavior difficulties. I have been serving children and youth with known and suspected disabilities, in both public school and private settings, for the past 15 years. I earned my Master’s in Education and Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology from San Diego State University. I then went on to complete my Doctor of Psychology in Educational Psychology, with an emphasis in Neuropsychological Assessment and Intervention, from Alliant International University. I am a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and Diplomate of the American Board of School Neuropsychology. Over my career I have worked as a School Psychologist, SELPA Program Specialist, District Director of Student Support Services, University Instructor/Lecturer, psychologist in private practice, and Owner/Director of Bylund Neuro-Ed Clinic And in addition to conducting psycho-educational and neuropsychological evaluations, I am a biofeedback coach and neurotherapist (i.e, neurofeedback) working with clients of all ages to address a wide range of concerns (e.g, improve focus, reduce stress, improve mood and behavior regulation, enhance performance) and improve overall well-being. I also founded Discovery Education Specialists a small Non-Public Agency (NPA) providing psychological and mental health related services to children in schools. And, in 2020 I will be launching Tech Health Kids to support families and schools in addressing the growing problem of screen overuse and associated psychological, behavioral, and learning difficulties. I have also published numerous articles and presented on a wide range of topics covering psycho-educational and neuropsychological assessment (dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, emotional disturbance), Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), mental health assessment and intervention, technology overuse disorders, comprehensive and legally defensible psycho-educational evaluation, neuroplasticity, mindfulness based interventions, motivational interviewing, developing sense of efficacy and intrinsic motivation, second language acquisition, and cultural competence in school psychology.
