About James C Nicholson

I have now fully retired but continue to teach, now at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Furman University near Greenville, SC. Prior to relocating to South Carolina, I was the Executive Director of the New Jersey Bike and Walk Coalition, growing non-profit organization in New Jersey, promoting a smarter transportation system and healthier lifestyles through bicycling and walking. I founded this organization in 2009 and served as its first President. My diversified skill set includes project management; teaching; writing, including grant writing; public speaking; and administration. I am a League of American Bicyclists (LAB)-certified Cycling Instructor and a League Coach. In that latter position, I certify additional LAB instructors through multi-day teaching seminars in the eastern and southeastern US. I have had success in building and managing a volunteer-based organization. My MBA (Finance and International Business) with years of financial and business analysis experience has helped me to become adept at goal setting, budgeting, and achieving measureable results within a budget. I am committed to encouraging others towards better living through increased physical activity, and would like to continue that in South Carolina.
