About James Canales

Being a 20-year Navy/Army veteran, I have worked around the world with a diverse range of personnel, missions, and facilities. From aircraft approaches and building Forward Operating Bases in Iraq to road construction and water drainage designs for existing bases in Kuwait. I have encountered numerous safety challenges around the globe. Both in my military and Law Enforcement careers I have acquired over four hundred hours of leadership development training and over three hundred hours of training development education. I have trained small and large groups, providing dynamic leadership to mentor the next group of leaders for success. I also have seven years of production experience which includes machine maintenance, trouble shooting, time management and quality control. My current position is with Gold Star Feed & Grain part of the our parent company, JDH, a five generation, family-owned feed manufacturing and commodity trading company that committed to safety for all employees. I started my my career with Gold Star Feed & Grain four years ago as a Plant Foreman with one of the regions six facilities. Two years ago I started as the EHS Supervisor for the region and then moved into the Regional EHS Manager position. As a Regional EHS Manager I am able to lead my team strategically, ensuring program compliance through training engaged employees, while assisting the company in growing a sustainable culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
