As a Shift Operations Team Leader at Triton Power's Saltend Power Station, I am responsible for managing and overseeing the safe and efficient operations of the power plant. This includes ensuring that operational targets are achieved safely, commercially, and within the environmental limits of the station, as well as managing a shift team to ensure reliable and efficient start-up and shutdown of the plant. As a fully authorised and nominated Safety Controller, I am responsible for enacting the role of safety coordinator across safety rule boundaries and preparing permits up to and including 275kV. I also plan and support workloads and maintain interfaces with all interested stakeholders, including the owner, customer, legal authorities, Health & Safety Executive, Environment Agency, National Grid Company, Trading department, suppliers, and contractors. In addition to fault diagnosis and decision-making on plant operational problems, I am responsible for delivering outcomes in all areas of work that are consistent with quality, health, safety, and environmental management. This includes ensuring that operating instructions, procedures, documentation, drawings, and manuals are accurate and adhered to, as well as managing and developing people to deliver the business plan. As a Shift Operations Team Leader, I am accountable for meeting production and health & safety targets, ensuring that there are no breaches of the environmental permit, and providing excellent communication with all stakeholders. I also undertake root cause analysis to identify and address plant problems and issues, manage incidents and events relating to plant operations, and successfully manage scheduled and unscheduled inspections and repairs. In this role, I work on a shift basis, managing the shift team and operating the plant safely and efficiently, while maintaining safe systems of work and control room operations. I also attend training and meetings as necessary, highlight and participate in improvement opportunities and projects, and manage appropriate budgets. Key relationships in this role include the Production Manager, Process Engineer, Shift Operations Team Leader, Shift Operations Teams & Technicians, Discipline Engineering Teams, HSE officer, and various stakeholders such as the owner, customer, legal authorities, and contractors.
