Before accepting the mandate of Director of Studies at his alma mater, the National Circus School of Montreal, Tanabe served as Senior Director of Business and Creative Strategy for Cirque du Soleil after entering the company as their youngest-ever Artistic Director for resident and touring shows in North America, Japan, Russia, and Europe. An MIT graduate in space science and physics, entrepreneur and executive producer James Tanabe has an MBA in International Strategy for Creative Industries from the UPenn’s Wharton Business School and is co-founder of the production company 51/49 Productions. His project portfolio spans Japan, Taiwan, Holland, Canada, France, Spain, Italy, India, Thailand, Korea, Russia, Belgium, Vietnam, Lithuania, Turkey, Cambodia, Uganda, and the United States as a lecturer, instructor, and producer.
