About Jamie Orr

A Queen's University Belfast physics graduate with a masters in Astrophysics. My dissertation focused on new ways of exploring exoplanet atmospheres; in particular Doppler Tomography and Radial Velocity methodology for hot Jupiters. I did similar work during an internship at the Astrophysics Research Centre at the university, probing hot Jupiter characteristics with Transit Methodology.I started my career as a Statistician at NISRA and helped successfully deliver Census 2021 for Northern Ireland. This included work on Coverage Adjustment methodology, creating a hard-to-count index for statistical geographies to rank their propensity of response and analysis of administrative data to find the probability that a record was of quality.I worked for ISx4 as a Data Management Consultant. I was involved with an AWS cloud solution for a UK Government Agency; installing and managing RStudio on an EC2 instance, snapshots and S3 buckets. I was also Project Lead on the sale of a commercial loan book between two banks, a SAS based, report driven role.I worked for the Innovation Lab using data analytics and system modelling to help solve complex problems facing government, including: free period product provision systems mapping, survey design, analytics and time-series modelling for oral health inequalities and a literature review of domiciliary care services in Northern Ireland. I also facilitated Strategtic Insight Labs for The Executive Office (TEO) on free period product provision and The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) on The Future Food Strategy.I currently work for the London Borough of Camden as a Senior Data Analyst for adult social care.
