About Jamie Petten

I am an entrepreneur with a passion for community, design and innovation. Having built several businesses from ground up, I thrive managing large scale projects while aligning teams, timelines and budgets to transform vision to reality. Before taking the leap into entrepreneurship and design as co-founder of Morris and James, I spent decades developing internationally recognized businesses in real estate, hospitality, finance and tech. Serving as President and Executive Director of the Kanata North Business Association, representing Canada's Largest Technology Park was an honour. This role offered a unique opportunity to develop a visionary plan with the community to transform this world class technology park into a mixed use, complete and connected innovation community. The result; Special Economic District designation and private and public sector investment to support this transformative plan for the future. While leading the organization through this urban design and planning initiative, I co-founded Hub350 as a space for finance, corporate and academic partners to soft land and collaborate with local businesses and entrepreneurs. Working with a world class team of developers and architects in order to bring the vision for Hub350 from concept and construction to completion, it was an honour to dream up this sqft commercial space. As a member of the founding team, leading marketing for Canadian SaaS Accelerator, L-SPARK, I cut my teeth in tech and entrepreneurship supporting over 36 portfolio companies in raising over $24M in angel and venture capital funding while building a community of SaaS entrepreneurs, investors and partners. During my tenure I developed and founded, SAAS North in partnership with CUBE Business Media. Canada’s first conference designed to connect tech founders, investors and execs in Ottawa, Canada. Previous to L-SPARK I supported the launch of a Canadian owned boutique hotel in Negril, Jamaica. From ground up construction to completion, growing the business to multi millions in annual revenue and 30 employees. During this time The SPA Retreat Boutique Hotel was recognized by the International Hotel Awards, World Travel Awards and Tripadvisor Awards of Excellence ranking as the #1 Hotel on Tripadvisor. I have developed insight into brand building, strategy development, marketing and sales and have been featured in Techcrunch, Entrepreneur, IT Business Canada and earned coverage for the brands I represent in the Financial Post, Globe & Mail, Fortune, CNN Travel, ABC News & more.
