About Jane Karanja

As a Financial Specialist with over 13 years of experience, I empower organizations by delivering quality data and insights to support strategic decision-making by top management. My approach combines resourcefulness, efficiency, and innovation, which is evidenced by tools I developed at USAID, including a Local Implementing Partners’ Risk Profile Matrix and a Financial Analysts’ Annual Task Planner. I have co-led enterprise-wide initiatives such as the ERM and FMFIA federal compliance exercises, strengthening internal controls and risk management frameworks at the agency level. My expertise spans Financial Management and Analysis, Risk Assessment, Grants Management, and Operations, which I have gained through roles at USAID, the Wyss Academy for Nature, and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). I hold a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Economics, and professional certifications in CPA(K), CIFA(K), and PMP. I grew up in a village in Gatundu in Kenya and worked hard to get into Alliance Girls High School, one of the best high schools in Kenya, hence, I am passionate about growth and transformation. In 2022, I facilitated the setup of a Swiss conservation foundation’s regional office in Nanyuki, Kenya, blending finance, operations, and purpose-driven work. Outside of finance, I’m a published poet (author of Fathom Me Not a Saint, available on Amazon under the pen name The_C_Poet), a former Board Member of Utafiti Sacco Limited, and a running enthusiast.
