About Jarrid Thelen
I am interested in how faith structures and facilitates community growth and persistence. As a teacher I focus on how small groups of diverse persons can learn and explore material together create a stable sense of identity and in turn a stronger sense of mission and purpose. Practically I like to utilize technology as both a way to spread faith broadly, and to aide in strengthening local relations. In the classroom this means a three step method of first absorbing the material, then translating it into a personally meaningful message, and finally acting on or expressing what was learned to others. Learning then becomes a communal engagement. For a faith tradition this is especially important as that is how the Christian message continues to live through believers. Learning and religion then are two components in dialogue that help the human person develop a sense of identity and purpose.
