About Jason Crouch

I've worked across multiple sectors as a skilled professional: as a researcher, maker, consultant and project manager. I am comfortable working solo, as well as part of small and medium sized teams. I have particular expertise in theatre and event production (online, in-person, and hybrid), technology for performance, information and communications technology, digital content creation and graphic design. In 2017 I completed a five year period of PhD research centred around the human technology interface, which included performance design, setting my own research goals and writing up a comprehensive thesis to a high academic standard. I have also taken strategic and advisory roles in digital technology for clients in a variety of sectors, with the main focus being in arts and culture. During the Covid 19 crisis I collaborated and consulted with numerous artists working in a wide range of disciplines, helping them to transform existing work for a remote audience, or to make new online or otherwise digitally mediated work. A particular highlight was working with acclaimed theatre makers Nigel and Louise on the highly accessible, collaboratively devised, on-line performance Mystery Trip. I worked as a technology specialist with Gateshead International Festival of Theatre (GIFT), supporting their pivot to become the first online-only theatre festival in the UK (May 2020). Throughout the pandemic I continued to work on the delivery of online events including: Black Gold Arts festival (2020), the Arts Council funded Horizon Showcase at the Edinburgh Festivals (2021/2022), the Arts Foundation awards ceremony (2021), BAC’s Co-creating Change Festival, Commonword's Black Writers Conference (2021) and FutureEverything's Jordan Media Arts festival.
