About Jason Knowles

Jason started his security related career in 1992 working loss prevention for Burdines department stores. Jason is a former U.S. Marine Corps Primary Marksmanship Instructor, and M1A1 Abrams Tank Commander. He began in 1995 instructing lessons in the use of small arms and marksmanship for the Marine Corps. In as Tank Commander won the coveted position of Top Tank for the 8th Tank Battalion. Later competed and won second place in the General Dynamics Tank Gunnery competition in Fort Knox KY. He and his crew were awarded Navy Achievement Medals for their performance in this Marine Corps wide tank gunnery competition. Jason holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Florida State University school of Criminology with a minor concentration in human behavior, law enforcement, and corrections. He has over 26 years of sworn law enforcement experience in both the local and state arenas. In 2001, he was selected to compete in an International SWAT Competition. He performed events both as a Sniper and as an Entry Operator. His team ranked 11th overall. In 2002 he moved from local law enforcement to state law enforcement and became a Special Agent for the Florida Dept of Law Enforcement where he was assigned to the Florida Computer Crime Center, one of the first of its kind in the nation. In 2003 he was accepted to the FDLE Spec Ops team and was quickly appointed the Team's Training Coordinator. To date he has served over 23 years on SWAT as both a team leader and sniper team leader. He has volunteered and served as a Regional Representative and Instructor for the Florida SWAT Association. He served 8 years in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's sworn training section as Chief Instructor for all High Liability topics and as FDLE's Department Armorer. He has served on several curriculum development committees, and has testified as a subject matter expert in the Use of Force and police practices for both trial court and grand jury. In 2014 Jason returned to investigations working High Tech Cyber Crimes, Internet Crimes Against Children, and then Violent Crime. In 2016 Jason was promoted to Special Agent Supervisor of the FDLE high tech cyber crime unit where he supervised cyber crime, the internet crimes against children task force and the electronic surveillance support team. In 2020 he was assigned the supervision of the domestic security counter terrorism and targeted violence prevention. He serves as the mutual aid coordinator for the Tallahassee region, Region II RDSTF coordinator, and the deputy director of the North Florida Fusion Exchange.
