About Jef Verbeeck

I’m a creative technical designer with a background in architecture, now working at the intersection of concept, materials, and execution. At Vrije Ruimte, I coordinate the design and build of scenographic elements for events and installations — from abstract ideas and Photoshop mockups to functional, real-world structures. I thrive in the early phase of a project: translating messy briefings into clean solutions, testing materials, prototyping, and aligning technical production with creative intent. Before this, I worked as an architect for over 15 years, mostly on high-end residential and public projects. I was often the one turning client input into concrete design proposals — from first sketch to permit, including visualisation and technical detailing. Outside of architecture and events, I co-founded the band Raketkanon (2010–2020). I played guitar, wrote songs, and created the band’s visual identity — including album artwork and iconic stage objects. That experience sharpened my instinct for concept-driven making, absurd creativity, and collaborative chaos. I'm now looking for projects or roles where clarity, feasibility and content matter more than polished façades or last-minute showmanship.
