About Jenna Bailey

I'm Jenna and I've spent the entirety of my professional career, the past 9 years, in volunteer organizations (AmeriCorps and Peace Corps) or in non-profits. I had the privilege of growing up going to schools that cared about service to others. When I first began volunteering in middle school, I loved the way it made me feel. People were so thankful for me, and it made me feel special and important. As I continued to volunteer into my teen years, service began to become important to me for a different reason. I started to feel I could make a difference, change lives,"be the change I wish to see in the world". While my intentions were good, there was still something missing. Finally, I came to an important realization."Service" implies that one person is doing the serving, the other is being served. But that isn't true. In every relationship I've built through volunteering or non-profit work, I've found the best, truest "serving" relationships are the ones where we are each giving and receiving, each teaching and learning. Now, true service, to me, means building equitable relationships in community. That is my passion and that is what I hope to spend a lifetime doing. I am an experienced Volunteer Coordinator and Recruiter with a demonstrated history of working in the civic & social organization industry. I have nine years of experience building sustainable relationships between individuals or groups and community stakeholders. I am skilled in non-profit operations, fundraising, training/teaching, and supervising individuals and teams. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology (2016) and am pursuing a Master's of Social Work (2024). I have worked as a social worker with Youth Villages since January of 2020. I am passionate about social justice, intersectional perspectives, gender equity, and environmental justice.
