Current position: Senior Full Professor at the Department of Dermatology at Ghent University, Belgium. The department is an academic reference center for Belgium and South Holland with in and outpatient clinic, and clinical research. It has its own Dermatology Research Unit (melanoma, pigmentary disorders and psoriasis as research topics) and teaching facilities. The department employs 25 dermatologists. Past president of the Royal Belgian Society of Dermatology and Venereology, and Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine Belgium. International responsibilities : Board Member and Treasurer of the Eur Soc Pigment Cell Research (2003 to 2012), Board Member of the Fondation René Touraine since 2013 and (now Past) President of the Skin Inflammation and Psoriasis International Network committee since 2017). Scientific Programme Committee Member EADV. Member ESDR, AAD and EDF. Education: Dermatology training at UGent PhD in Medical Sciences in ‘Melanosome transport’, with research stays at Dr Gilchrest’s lab at Boston University, USA (1995), at Leiden Center for Electron Microscopy, The Netherlands (1996), at Dpt of Dermatology, Hôpital E Herriot, Lyon, France (1998) and St John's Dermatology Department, London, UK (Prof Martin Black, 2005). Professional experience: Lecturer in Dermatology and Director Dermatology Research Unit at UGent, Belgium Chairperson of UZ Gent Dermatology Dpt (2008-2017). From 2009-2012 : position as Division Manager with managerial responsibility (personal interest in Lean management) for 8 medical departments, incl Dermatology. In 2012 she became full professor in Dermatology at UGent. Since 2017 Academic Head of the Department. Scientific achievements: co-inventor of 2 patents;>150 peer reviewed publications; Roche Fundamental Research Award Associate Editor of J Invest Dermatol since 2014. Research interest: chronic immune mediated skin diseases. Principles of Value Based Healthcare.
