About Joann Chong

With almost four years of experience in communications, I developed a strong foundation in creative storytelling, strategic planning, and impactful campaigns. However, my life took a transformative turn when I embarked on a working holiday in New Zealand. The experience broadened my perspective, fostering a deeper understanding of global cultures, values, and the importance of empathy and community.Today, I’m channeling that newfound perspective into my work at an NGO in Malaysia, where I’m passionate about making a difference in the lives of underserved children and families. As part of a dedicated team, I focus on providing equitable education and breaking the cycle of poverty, enabling children to access the tools they need to build a brighter future. I believe that education is a powerful catalyst for change, and my goal is to empower individuals to overcome their circumstances and thrive. My journey from communications to the nonprofit sector has fueled my commitment to social impact, and I’m excited to continue working towards creating lasting, positive change in my community.
