Background
About Joelle Safatli
As an undergraduate student majoring in Psychology at Dalhousie University, my passion lies in mental health, clinical work, research, and rehabilitation. Currently, I am gaining valuable experience as an assistant to psychologist, Ms. Olga Komissarova, at her private practice, Dresden Row Family Group. Ms. Komissarova specializes in neuropsychology, forensic psychology, and clinical psychology. In this role, I administer various psychological assessments, conduct client interviews, record behavioural observations, interpret assessment results, and write detailed reports. Concurrently, I volunteer at several research labs and mental health facilities to further develop my skills and knowledge. Through my honour's project and my volunteer work at the SAP lab and MAAC Lab, I have gained experience in running and interviewing participants, transcribing and coding data, qualitative analysis, and handling sensitive participant information. Additionally, I volunteer at the Nova Scotia Hospital's Psychosocial Unit and the East Coast Forensic Hospital, where I engage directly with patients, observe clinical interventions, and contribute to creating a supportive, therapeutic environment. My approach to supporting individuals is built on strong interpersonal skills, such as active listening and empathy, which help me build trust and rapport with diverse clients. In research, I'm detail-oriented, analytical, and committed to ethical practices. Across all my experiences, I strive to be a reliable, organized team player who can thrive in fast-paced, multidisciplinary settings. Looking ahead, I'm excited to apply these skills in my graduate studies.
