About John Ashmen

John stepped down as president of Citygate Network on July 31, 2023, having held the position for more than 16 years. He came to Citygate Network from Christian Camp and Conference Association, where he worked for 15 years in the COO role. The combination of those two positions has given him a career of more than 30 years in association management. He is now Citygate Network’s president emeritus, serving as a consultant and ambassador. John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible, with a social work emphasis, and a Master of Organizational Management. He is the author of "Invisible Neighbors," considered by many to be the “how-to manual” for followers of Jesus who are serious about meaningful engagement with the poor. He continues to serve on the board of the National Association of Evangelicals. During his time as president at Citygate Network, John successfully led the organization through a reassessment, relocation, re-staffing, refocusing, rebellion (almost), rebranding, and a pandemic. Through all of this, Citygate Network membership grew by 50 percent and member events increased almost fourfold. Today, Citygate Network is an extremely valuable and strongly viable association that is highly regarded and greatly respected by its members, other faith-focused organizations, and the government.
