John is currently the Lead VFX Artist at Rumble Entertainment an online game developer in Redwood Shores, California. He has worked in the video game industry for the past fifteen years in the capacity of VFX artist, producer, compositor and technical artist. John began his video game career providing 3D and digital video content to educational interactive titles in the early 90’s. From the beginning he relied on having a diverse set of skills in a variety of disciplines. In the late 90’s he teamed up with New Pencil and became a part owner. At New Pencil he further expanded his knowledge to include particles, shaders and other VFX techniques as well as developed skills in specking work, writing budgets and managing artists. John played a key role in establishing New Pencil as a tech savvy company capable of interpreting and standardizing rigorous technical pipelines. When New Pencil dissolved John joined Perpetual Entertainment as Lead VFX Artist where he lead artists, scoped work, created pipelines and set visual standards for Gods and Heroes and Star Trek Online. After leaving Perpetual John went to EA to work as a visual effects artist on God Father 2. With the shipping of Godfather 2 John joined the Gazillion team. His vast knowledge of visual effects techniques compositing and video editing is accompanied by a rare combination of technical problem solving skills and artistic talent. John is also known for his dedication and ability to motivate artists.
