Background
About John Gunner
I am currently working at Rochford District Council as an Assistant Building Services Officer in Asset Management. This is new role for me where my main duties are to inspect and oversee planned and reactive maintenance work within the Borough with regard to all of the councils assets. This is a very enjoyable role where the work is varied and requires both office based and on site working. I work with a great team who are all very knowledgeable and supportive of me being the newest member of the team. I have recently gained my Level 7 award in Leadership and Management (MCGI) which is based upon the experience of running my own band "Johnny Gunner and the Raiders"; of where I have gained over 20 years experience in running and managing the band, the people who were part of the organisation and co coordinating and organising events. I worked for seven years as a local government officer for Castle Point Borough Council as an Environmental Ranger. While employed at CPBC I successfully completed an introduction to civil protection course at the EPC in York. In my previous role I was part of a team that would provide local residents with a rest centre and support in times of a local emergency event, I attended meetings within the resilience team although mine was a minor role at the time. My day to day tasks encompassed dealing with multi agency personnel, contractors, members of the public and stakeholders alike. I was tasked with acting as team leader and cover designated tasks when my manager was on leave or when needed for a support role. I am hard working, have a can do attitude and ambitious - with a drive to climb the ladder in order to succeed. I have a BA (hons) business administration 2.2 and various other qualifications including, two A levels, NVQ level 3 in supervisory management and two City and Guilds qualifications in teaching adults in further education. I have experience in the building industry as a tradesman. I am seeking to further develop my skills within the field of Local Government Asset Management and managing people. I have a strong interest in life long learning, with a goal to eventually embarking on an masters programme (MA) in due course. If my credentials are of interest to you I welcome any leads or possible career/training opportunities that may be available.I am honest, hardworking, a team player, willing to succeed and have a "can do" attitude.
