About John McCann

I am an art and cultural historian whose goal is to preserve Asian artistic heritage,advance public understanding through cultural exchange and education. I am a senior level fundraiser, writer and project manager for art collectors, museums, curatorial projects, historic preservation projects, teaching American style fundraising in new global environment.such as in Chinese business schools. My targets are Peking University and Qinghua University. I am also interested in studying medieval period architecture, illuminated manuscripts in Western monasteries, and Asian and Islamic scrolls and calligraphy. I want to use my 10 years experience in all levels of fundraising to now develop and manage worthy projects that will preserve world art heritage for future generations. I believe in preserving art "In situ", but like the Japanese, believe in protecting cultural patrimony,by setting up standards whereby art objects can travel, and can form a robust art market. Morroco recently with the help of the MCC, preserved one of their ancient cities using modern techniques, establishing new tourist sites, protecting the art, but also encouraging the sale of local arts and crafts for sustainability, for the residents. Start in US with "Saving Sacred Places", restoring and re-purposing historic churchs and synagogues and mosques. Specialties: Fundraising, study of art history (Object based), history of the ancient worlds; East Asia and the Middle East, advancing public understanding of legal and ethical issues affecting the art world, providing universal exchage to art through cultural exchange and education, finding workable solutions to questions regarding acquisition, donation, exhibition and publication of ancient art.
