About John Patrick

John Patrick (JP) has 20 years of experience transforming how communicators express their ideas, revealing habits that either energize or diminish their intentions. Corporations have hired JP to help teams close contracts, navigate tricky interpersonal team communications, and develop rising leaders. JP currently serves as a Facilitator for Duarte Inc, the global leader in communication design. Duarte’s methodology allows JP to support some of the largest brands in the world such as Apple, The Gap, VMware, Nike, UPS, InBev, Nestle-Purina, and Shopify with how to leverage the power of story and empathy for audience to communicate ideas. A tenured professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, JP taught courses for the departments of Public Policy, Communications, and Dramatic Art from 2011 - 2024. JP thrives when given the chance to help empower marginalized voices in our community. This led JP to teach classes under UNC Chapel Hill's Prison Education Program and to help build the Gender-Affirming Voice Program at Chicago Women's Health Center. The core methodology to how JP approaches communication derives through his 20+ year collaboration with Miller Voice Method and its founder Scott Miller. JP co-founded the Miller Voice Method Studio in NYC where he is a co-contributor to the method and Teacher Certification Faculty. JP now resides in Marlboro, VT alongside his partner in crime, two kids, and the best dog. ever.
