A public affairs and communications professional with over 16 years’ experience in consultancy and politics (UK and international). Skilled in developing and implementing public affairs and broader communications strategies, producing policy briefings, stakeholder relationship management, media handling, project managing media communications at major international events, crisis communications, drafting articles, speech-writing and advising senior audiences including on internationally sensitive projects. Experienced at nurturing senior relationships in the corporate, NGO or political setting and managing teams. Politics: selected in November 2023 as the Labour Party’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency of Rugby, Warwickshire. Currently working full time on my campaign to be elected the next MP for Rugby. Elected in May 2022 as a Labour Party Councillor on Rugby Borough Council, representing New Bilton Ward. I am our lead on housing. I’m also head of media for Rugby Labour Party. A creative, self-starter, with a track record of founding new organisations, leading campaigns and managing teams. Co-founder and chair/director (pro bono) of the highly-regarded Pragmatic Radicalism policy forum, which pioneers new policy-making for the left. Possesses an excellent understanding of the workings of Westminster, Whitehall and international relations (particularly the Middle East). Experience of working overseas (one year in Abu Dhabi and working in Iraq and the Arabian Gulf). Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Board Member of the John Adams Society, the leadership organisation for UK alumni of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Programme, whose mission is to promote and strengthen the special relationship between the UK and US. Formerly a Trustee Director of a young carers' charity and school governor. Participated on the US State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program on foreign policy in 2009. An accomplished writer on domestic and foreign policy, with articles published in leading political news websites and international press.
