I am a safeguarding specialist and Directeur Sportif with a rare dual perspective: deep-rooted expertise in managing risk and welfare, combined with frontline leadership in elite international cycling. My career began in law enforcement, where I served as a senior police officer leading complex investigations into child and adult abuse, domestic abuse, coercive control, and stalking. I built strong partnerships with statutory agencies, and developed safeguarding strategies that centred on survivor safety, prevention, and systemic improvement. In parallel, I’ve spent decades immersed in competitive cycling—as a racer, and later as a Directeur Sportif managing a UCI Continental team, DN1 squads in France, and a women’s team. I’ve led riders through demanding race calendars throughout Europe, Asia and the Caribbean, while fostering environments that prioritise performance and athlete wellbeing. I’m especially attuned to the unique challenges women face in professional sport and advocate for structures that protect and empower them. Now based in France, multilingual (English/French), and holding dual British-Irish citizenship, I lead AbuseFreeLife—a consultancy delivering safeguarding strategy, education, and crisis support to organisations and across elite and grassroots sport. I combine race-day precision with safeguarding clarity to create safe, high-performance environments for athletes and teams.
