About Jojo Ramsden

As Senior Economic Development Officer and Creative Lead at Torbay Council, my key role within the Economy Team is to provide business growth support to your business in Torbay. This includes, for example, sharing business growth opportunities about suitable business premises, connecting creative sole trader and limited company businesses with non-creative professional services and vice versa, and being involved in activities to retain and attract talent and business owners into the area. As a Devonian, I started my career working in Torbay, spent many years working overseas, and have gone full circle, returning to work in Torbay Council. I love working and living here, and am living proof of the opportunities to grow both personally and professionally that Torbay has to offer. As a result, I am passionate about making my contribution to promote the benefits of being in Torbay, Devon and the South West as a great place to live, work, study, and enjoy all the local events and activities. My role includes ensuring that business owners have signed up to our newsletter to keep up to date with all the latest news about business growth support including training workshops, suitable business premises, networking, grant funding, investment and sponsorship opportunities. I am a Chartered Management Institute accredited Level 2 Coach and Mentor, Lancaster University Management School MBA Master’s in Business Administration graduate with specialisms in Entrepreneurship, Business Growth, and International Marketing, have extensive experience travelling and working overseas with INTO University Partnerships and UK Universities, British Council and the British Trade and Cultural Office, gained accreditation as a Charted Linguist translator, and previously worked at Plymouth City Council. I am a fluent Mandarin Chinese French and German speaker with BA Honours Degree in Modern Languages and political and economic history of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and France. I have a solid understanding of all the challenges that business owners face when growing their businesses. I really enjoy sharing my knowledge gained from my own work experience in joint ventures overseas and in the UK and previously as a self-employed business owner myself, to give advice and share best practice. I always love a discussion about how I can assist you with sharing successful business growth ideas and help you to develop mutually beneficial relationships.
